Description
Open Shadow
Open Shadow, is a painting inspired by natural light, lush garden plants against a window and a sense of moving from inside to outside. I am attracted to the way sunlight in the distance illuminates leaves, heightens their colours and creates dark, cool contrasting areas.
1920s Songbook
I painted it in oil paint on the cover of an old songbook. The songbook was printed in the 1920s and had a blue linen cover which had water damage creating a blue speckled effect this inspired the blue colour and texture. Plus it was interesting to transform this object which related to sound vibrations, the human voice and singing in a group, into an object inspired by light vibration and sense of place.
Liminal Space
I like the way some spaces seem to sing, drawing you in, they have a physical effect captivating the viewer and promising a place to enter and the potential of something or somewhere beyond.
