This small oil painting By The Pool has contrasting colours of turquoise and ochre in textured gestural marks. A daydream inspired me; I was lying in the garden on a hot day. I could hear birdsong and running water from somewhere in the distance. While I was enjoying where I was, my mind was taking me on a journey to a serene scene with a tranquil hidden pool for swimming and lounging, a spacious place with views through an archway to a turquoise bay.

Through my painting process, I explore the way we embody ourselves in different environments. I am interested in the way our inner experience crosses over with what’s physically there to create our unique perception of reality.
